Pipestone Rose IV All images are the physical and intellectual property of Barbara Minnick, aka Stormcarver. Unauthorized use prohibited. I have a number of things I have to get done today, but there will be carving involved. Going to get back to a normal routine if it kills us all!

Kiddies went back to school today. Wahooooo! I can finally get back to some type of schedule and resume regular updates.

Currently, I am working on the last PipeStone rose, and am down to the detail work. Also have the last 2 roses (one PipeStone and J’s White Alabaster) to stem -- once the stems are cut -- and thorn. Haven’t been real disposed to using power tools to cut mahogany with the kids and a puppy running around. However, am free during the day again and it will get done this week.

The current rose has been an interesting proposition. Usually, I have a number of photos of roses available when I sketch and carve a piece. With this one, it’s been so long since I sketched it out onto the stone that I don’t remember which pics I used for rough reference. The result is that this one has been carved in a bizarre mental freehand style. Some aspects work well, and others have needed extra attention in detail and shape to mesh with the rest of the rose.

Here is where I am as of this morning. Down to the detail work!
