I was happy to get to do some work on this during the past weekend. I did cheat and take out the excess material from the lower and side petals with the power chisel, but without that option, I would have been days just taking away stone and killing my hands in the process. So...a little shortcut that doesn’t affect the end result is ok with me.

Am gonna have to be careful with the side petals as I continue. I have uncovered a crack through the body of the left one which could cause a major problem as I shape it. Granted, It could be repaired if it broke, but I think, with this stone, it may well be much more apparent than one without a random pattern. Anyway...I am going to go work on this.
