With children and puppy in residence, I have not had time to update this space, which I regret. I have, however, been able to sneak in some carving time, thank goodness, or would be insane! No, I have not yet stemmed the white rose, but, with the kids at their grandmother’s house for a bit, I should be able to get out and do that, heat or no.

I finished the third PipeStone rose and have begun on the last. Worked on both according to the original sketches on the stone itself, but without the usual benefit of a group of reference pictures to go on. Was an interesting proposition with the third, and proving the same with the fourth. A new type of challenge, as the sketches were made based up on a composite of references, which I am now not using.

Here’s the third. I think it’s the most open (petal-wise) of any I have done so far, and I had a few fits with the interior and exterior body shaping. Think I fnally got it though.

Pipestone Roses All images are the physical and intellectual property of Barbara Minnick, aka Stormcarver. Unauthorized use prohibited. The fourth PipeStone rose I just started the other night and am still working on primary shape. Here is what I have so far... Going to continue to work on this one and try to get out to get stems cut for all three.
